If you're in town for a few days, we recommend:

Restaurants

Taqueria 7 Estrellas (late night), Taqueria Mi Trailita, and Tamale House are definite favorites. We also like G'Raj Mahal, Via 313 Pizza, and Contigo.

If you're looking to fine dine, we especially enjoy Clark's Oyster Bar, Odd Duck, and Fabi & Rosi.

Bars

We often hang out at Barfly's, a northside dive bar where we had our first date; The Grand, a pool hall down the street from Barfly's; The Grackle and Violet Crown, two favorite bars on East 6th; and Craft Pride, a Texas-only craft beer bar on Rainey Street.

Recreation

Swimming holes abound and some of our favorites are found at Pedernales State Park, located 40 miles west of town on the Pedernales River; McKinney Falls State Park, just south of town on Onion Creek; Commons Ford, a city park just west of town on Lake Austin (caution- no bathrooms!); Deep Eddy, a spring-fed, cement-bottom public pool in town; and Barton Springs, a spring-fed, natural-bottom pool in Zilker Park.

The Blanton Museum of Art, Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, and The Capitol Building are all located in central Austin, near campus. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema , with six Austin locations, offers great food and cocktails to enjoy while you watch a movie. Do 512 is a website listing concerts and events that are taking place each day.

If you'd like to visit a local brewery in town, check out Hops and Grain, Live Oak, or Zilker. If you'd like to visit a local brewery nestled in the beautiful hill country, check out Jester King or Argus Cidery.

Getting Around

Uber and Lyft are back in town, but we recommend Fasten or Ride Austin if you're looking for a ride share app. There's also the Cap Metro bus system.
